cyberspace

How many of you are watching me?
Silently going over my words
As I hang them out to dry

I'm my meagre 1 meg.
The last three years are
Petrified with the
Tree trunk photo by Tim

This mesh
This Net
Has me caught,
Chained to a mass of
Fibreoptics and ISDN
I am the butterfly caught in the World Wide Web
My modem lights flicker
As I lay more of me on
The line
And my wings lose their shine

A lot of me there is to see
But I am so much more
You cannot see my earrings
Or my chipped black nail-varnish

You don't know if I'm bleeding
Or even still breathing
Or crying
Or dying
Or dead
You can't see what I'm seeing
Or be what I'm being
Or ever
See into
My head

Yet you all feel me
My pain sending minuscule
Electric shocks
To returned in email
Sympathy

In my words
Sit truth and lies
Side by side
As in my mind
In poetry
Sit love and pain
Sometimes so close
They are the same

Now I salute you all
Tracing invisible maplines
Across oceans. Words form me
To you
I will carry on screaming my pain
To a world which screams back louder
And a very few have time to listen
I will carry on airing me
With IE4 and FTP
Although scared of milleniumania
I'm internetted
Hook line and sinker
