Friendship Torn
If, in my life,
I hold one thing dear,
it should be this,
broken twisted dream,
the jagged edge of metal torn,
your tarnished stare,
filled with scorn.
a friend you say?
No more no less,
a lie I feel,
like all the rest.
you're just a girl,
wrapped up tight,
in your own life,
your own little world.
spare a though for me,
perhaps,
I'll be gone before you know,
buried in a shallow hole.
just dust and bones,
and lies and tears.
the product of so many years,
of pain and,
misunderstanding.
we talked and danced,
and sang and drank.
and all the time,
your eyes were fixed,
on a spot 10 feet behind me.
you said.
'I'll always be there for you'
I believed you,
I even cared for you.
but when I looked to you,
you looked straight through me.
confused,
like you never even knew me.
